Update Your Zoom to Protect Your Data and Devices

When was the last time you updated Zoom? If you are unsure, it is likely time to upgrade to the latest version.

To utilize the latest features, fix bugs, and stay protected, UC Davis Information and Educational Technology (IET) is urging all university users to upgrade Zoom to the latest version.

It is best practice to make sure your applications are up to date. This spring, Zoom notified customers of a potential security vulnerability in older versions of the desktop client, so making an update now is especially important. The most recent security vulnerability specifically impacts the desktop application, not the web browser or web application.

IET recommends that students, faculty, and staff:

  1. Check the version of the Zoom app/software currently in use on their computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
  2.  If applicable, download and install the latest version of the Zoom app/software to avoid disruption.
    1.  Please reach out to your IT support contact if you have questions about software updates on your university-managed device.
    2. Zoom now requires quarterly updates to the Zoom software/app. Learn more about upgrading Zoom to the latest version.
